We are Family!
We know that right now, many families are facing heaviness, fear, and anxiety because of recent news about immigration policies. The world outside of our school is changing, and for many the fear is deeply personal. It touches families, their homes, friends and loved ones.
At Joy, we believe that every child—no matter where they come from, no matter their background—has the right to an education in a space of love, safety, and opportunity. Every child deserves a place where they can show up as they are, without fear, and feel the warmth of a community that supports them in every way.
We stand with everyone that is carrying the weight of fear, confusion and worry. We are committed, now and always, to being a place where families, students, staff and the community feel supported, loved, and safe. As part of our ongoing commitment, our policy and procedures are to ensure that Maureen Joy Charter School remains a safe place for all.
We do not collect or ask about students’ immigration status.
We will not allow ICE agents to access our school facilities unless they produce a judicial warrant signed by a federal judge.
We are a Safe Zone: Our school will remain a place where children are free to learn, grow, and thrive. No immigration enforcement or fear of disruption will take away the safety and stability they deserve. This is a place where you can feel peace of mind—children will be protected here.
We will keep families informed. We will continue to provide updates as we receive more information about federal policy and review our school policy and procedures.
We will support our students and families ensuring they know their rights and connecting them to relevant resources.
Together we stand committed to a future where every student, family, and staff is valued, celebrated and respected as a member of our community.
Thank you for entrusting us with your children.
